Great Ways to Save Big on Christmas Gifts

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and if you’re like me, you’re looking for the greatest ways to save on gifts. Over the years, I’ve written about a few of my favorite sites and apps that will give you the best bang for your buck. 

This year I’m happy to share some of my favorite ways to earn cash back, find great discounts and explore ways to pay for those gifts without breaking the bank.

Rakuten

Rakuten is always at the top of my list when it comes to getting cash back for purchases online, and now they offer in- store cash back when you link a credit or debit card to your account. They work with 2,500 stores including big names such as Nike, Macy’s and even specialty boutiques. So you are sure to find great deals!

Shopkick

Another great app that will earn you cash back on some of your favorite stores this holiday season is Shopkick.  Shopkick allows you to earn reward points called “kicks” that can be converted into Amazon gift cards, gift cards to some of your favorite stores, or you can convert the kicks into cash. There are multiple ways to earn kicks and the points really add up quickly.

You can link your credit card or debit card to your account and earn kicks by doing your regular gift (or everyday) shopping.

There are really great promotions out there for all sorts of savings, especially during the holiday season. You can download the app and be rewarded with instant “kicks” when you simply walk into stores like CVS, Walmart, Target, and scores of other stores. (You must enable your location features in the app to get instant kicks.) There are over 250,000 retail locations offering “kicks” just for walking in their store!

You can also scan barcodes of items in store to earn kicks, without having to purchase them.

And if you forget to do all that, you can still scan your receipts and collect kicks from your purchases.

Finally, watch their videos for kicks. Their videos feature great recipes, trending holiday décor ideas, videos from brands and much more.  They even have a holiday gift guide!

Honey

Honey is a great browser app that finds coupon codes while you are shopping. So if you go to a site and search for a product, Honey will notify you if there’s a lower price somewhere else, and if there is a coupon code. The browser app is available for free download on Chrome and it boasts 30,000 stores ranging from retail, to travel and even restaurants.  The average savings is close to 18%.

Craypay

Craypay is an app that allows you to buy gift cards at discounted prices. They boast 150,000 locations and online merchants for apparel, electronics, food & entertainment and groceries. The average discount on gift cards is 5 percent. 

You can even buy a discounted gift card before you go to a store and have it sent to your phone as a digital gift card and pay for your items that way.

Ibotta

Ibotta is one of my very favorite apps. Traditionally, it has been a great way to get cash back on offers like groceries, personal care products, pet supplies, and wine and spirits, which the app still offers. But Ibotta also offers cash back for online shopping at many of your favorite stores, cash back on gift cards purchases, national restaurants, delivery services and more. It is my number one go-to app for cash back and it really adds up.

Raise

Raise is another great app to purchase discounted gift cards and get cash back on your purchases as well. They work with more than 4,000 brands to offer discounts and 300,000 retail locations across the nation use Raise as an in store and online way to purchase. MyPoints

Mypoints offers deals, coupon codes, and cash back offers on some of the best gifts out there. You can also earn cash from scanning your shopping receipts. They’ve also developed a browser extension that helps you find deals online as well. Use it all year long to rack up points that you can also convert to cash or gift cards.
